I would agree with degski. In LEMON you have a much better design and syntax. I personally think BGL has some unnecessary syntax overhead. In my department we are slowly adapting laboratories and example codes to LEMON, students (including myself) find it easier than other c++ libraries and I would say ease of use is a very important long-term characteristic for a library (new users tend to stick with the easier one to read and write code).

2016-05-26 12:07 GMT-03:00 degski <degski@gmail.com>:

>> I'm still mystified why you rewrote Boost Graph instead of
>> contributing to a common code base.
>
> In short: we believe that LEMON provides better design and API,
> furthermore it definitely provides a wider variety of complex algorithms
> and (much) better overall performance. Some of these benefits could have
> been achieved by improving Boost Graph, but fundamental changes (design
> and performance) couldn't have been made this way.

There is no need to read a book to be able to use the library (jkust a couple of html pages in the tuts)... and indeed, much faster than BGL. A good basic (superioir) design (actually easy to understand once you dive into the code) for a graph library (and modern compilers seem to do the rest and turn it into something that works very well...). Personally I would love to see LEMON as part of Boost as it beats BGL in any way possible...

Disclosure: Non necessary, I'm in no way related to the authors of LEMON.

degski
