I agree with the changes in [2ffb7e5556f9], but I don't like [272781e710d9] too much. Many fixes are valid, of course but the resulted sentences still sound bad. There is also a change which fix nothing (e.g. which->that).
Also, why do we need two changesets for this?

I attached another patch [e05b2b48515a] with the "important" changes (for README and mainpage.dox only). This one could be applied, and the ticket could be kept open for the revision of the INSTALL file, if you find sentences that sound bad.
